Shay Studio Shoot

This was the 3rd time I had shot with Shay. The first time being at a workshop then on location shoot and now this time in the studio.

Many years ago I had done a model lighting workshop with renowned Australian fashion photographer, Peter Coulson. She was a great model to work with and we captured some great shots at the workshop.

The 2nd time I shot with Shay was on location in the streets of Sydney in what was a fashion shoot. This time I wanted to work with her in the studio and she once again didn’t disappoint. Shay was great to work with and we captured some great shots.

I will be posting more from this shoot at a later date so if you would like to see more of her, return here and I will being posting more from this shoot.

Unfortunately Shay has now moved overseas and so the opportunity to work with her has decreased.

Lucy Ocean Video Shoot

I was fortunate enough on this particular day to get a great sunrise. I was also lucky enough to be working with the amazing model Lucy Tyler. I gave Lucy free reign to do some creative dance with the ocean behind us. As always, she was wonderful to work with and I think that she captured the essence of my concept beautifully.

Video work, and in particular, free form model video work is something that I have wanted to explore for quite some time. The Central Coast provides some amazing locations to shoot this type of model work.

Studio Boudoir Shoot

Boudoir shoots are a genre that I have begun to love to shoot. To see the surprise and delight on clients faces when they see the finished product really makes it worthwhile.

This Boudoir shoot was taken in a studio in Somersby on the Central Coast NSW. Without the aid of props we captured some amazing images and we were both very happy with the final outcome. Alot of my clients have expressed how great it feels to finally have built the courage to book in a Boudoir shoot. They say that they wish that they had booked in a shoot like this a long time ago.

Travelling Model Anne Duffy

After many abandoned trips to the Central Coast due to Covid, model Anne Duffy was finally able to make it up here.

Anne Duffy is a model that once you share an inspiration image, she can transform the idea into fruition. A common mistake photographers learning to shoot with models make is that they try and learn by shooting friends and family. My advice is to pay a professional model as you will learn more from them than they can learn form you.

I have photographed Anne on many occasions now and the the thing that you learn about the most with using someone with her experience is that the shot you envisaged will be much easier to achieve by using exceptional talent.

Studio Shoot With Lucy Tyler

On previous trips I have been unable to line up a shoot with model Lucy Tyler, but on this trip the timing aligned.

Originally we had planned to do a sunrise shoot. The previous morning I got up early and scouted the location so that I knew exactly where to set up. The sunrise was perfect. Unfortunately, the morning of our shoot failed to deliver the sunrise we were after. We did however, manged to still get some great shots. You will have to wait for a future post to see these 🙂

We therefore headed back to my place where we had breakfast, and then headed off to Studio 35 in Woy Woy.. I didn’t have anything in particular in mind to shoot but with an excellent model, and some quick thinking, we managed to pull off several different looks.

Model Sylph Sia Studio Shoot

I have been shooting with model Sylph Sia for quite a few years now. Not being able to do many photographic shoots over the past year, it was nice to get back into the studio again. Sylph is one of the best, and once again, we captured some amazing shots.

I had seen a shot somewhere on the internet where the shoot was based around a sheet strategically wrapped around the models body.

The first model that came to mind for this shot was Sylph as I knew that she could capture perfectly, the poses I was after.

We headed to Studio 35 in Woy Woy for for this series. I photograph here often as I find that the space works very well for my style of shooting.

Model Anoush Anou – Studio and Outdoor Photo Shoot

For several years model Anoush Anou and I had been trying to organize a shoot. She lives in the U.S. and either she was in the U.S. and I was in Australia or she was visiting Australia and I was visiting family in the U.S.

On this particular occasion, the stars aligned and we were able to get together. We swapped ideas over the internet for several months so that on the day we had a mood board of ideas.

The first shots were taken on Mt Ettalong on the Central Coast. It provided some beautiful locations and panoramas of the area and we created some beautiful shots.

We then headed to Studio 35 in Woy Woy for some more shots. The first shot was my interpretation of a photograph from the famous photographer Tono Stano. I hope I did the original shot justice.

Anoush was such an expressive model and it was great that we finally got to work together.

Maternity Photo Shoot with Karlee

Maternity Photo Shoot with Karlee

Karlee is a Central Coast model and was after some indoor maternity photographs so contacted me and we worked out a date that was suitable to both of us. I have access to a photographic studio in Woy Woy, Studio 35. This is a fully equipped studio with makeup area, toilet facilities and provides a comfortable place to shoot.

I hadn’t worked with Karlee before so prior to a shoot like this a level of trust needs to be developed. Kylie had searched out my work and felt comfortable with my style. This is such an important facet of capturing photographs such as these. Before the shoot Karlee and I had swapped ideas so that on the day of the shoot, the images that we captured were what we had both envisioned. This is an important part of any shoot and I like to have a mood board of work before the shoot commences so that that the shoot is as smooth as possible.

Being a professional model, Karlee was easy to work with and we captured some wonderful images, however, the most important thing was that there was communication before the shoot.

The shoot was relaxed and as it progressed, we were able to communicate other ideas. When photographing anyone, communication is the key and to capture the photographs you have in mind, open discussion prior to the shoot is very important.

Family Photography – Photographing 3 generations in 1 day

Family portraits are about capturing a moment in time that may never be there again.

I was honoured to be asked to shoot this family portrait of 3 generations. On the day we were supposed to go to a local location, however, nature didn’t favour us and we were forced to shoot inside.

Luckily I had access to a studio and we were able to capture some beautiful moments that will last a lifetime.
